Chris has a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Studies) degree from The University of Cape Town. He graduated with the Bell Prize - Highest mark throughout all years for practical studies in saxophone.
He was student lecturer on U.C.T's jazz-bridging program for two years. He has taught music at several institutions country wide: St Francis Adult Education Centre in Langa for five years, Bishops Primary & High School in Cape Town, Crawford College and Redhill School in Johannesburg. He was a member of the South African Police Orchestra for two years. He composed the music for the Vega School of Advertising’s five year movie, played at the North Sea Jazz Festival, opened the South African ‘Woman of the Year’ ceremony, live on national TV in 2006, has played about 1600 shows for the Barnyard Theatre’s in South Africa (writing & arranging for three of their shows), he has worked in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, toured a two-man production with Amra-Faye Right (Velma Kelly in West End’s Chicago), played the Superbowl as guest artist for SPAR and was in the pit for Soweto Story at the Civic and Hairspay at the Lyric. He has played with the Jonathan Crossley Electric Band, and has his own original sax album. He is sax lecturer at W.I.T.S University, SA. He toured Denmark, Belgium and The Netherlands at the end of 2008 with Under African Skies - 76 different theatres in 3 months, and toured to Zimbabwe and Turkey in March and April of 2009. And in November 2009 he toured Holland and The Carribean with that same show.
He currently runs the his own jazz quartet as an original an artistic project.
