JEVON

Jevon started his music tuition in 1991 under the firm hand of Robin Finlay and virtuoso trumpeter Antoine De Ley from Belgium. While completing a B.Sc I.T at RAU in 1999 he continued to teach and perform at numerous churches, partaking in the Johannesburg Pops, Roodepoort Ensemble as well as the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra. He also became the Rosebank Catholic Churches’ principal trumpeter under the leadership of Norman Buckle.

Due to his versatility as a trumpeter he has involved himself in many fields of music, from performing in various Barnyard theatre productions, being a member of one of South Africa’s top Punk-Rock bands to gospel environments and classical solo performances.

His unique trumpet sound, stage presence and artistry has been sought after by names such as Jason Hartman, Emmanuel Castis, Danny K Toy Soldiers project and world renowned concert organists Jane Parker-Smith and Clive Driskill-Smith, just to name a few. His trumpeting can be heard on 9 recorded CDs to date.

He is a musical contractor making his performances available to corporate bands, recording studios and various other events. Addition, he has solo projects on the cards for 2014 and is geared towards bringing the majestic sound of the trumpet to a broader audience.
