KEVY G - MUSIC DIRECTOR - PIANIST & KEYBOARDIST - PERFORMER - PRODUCER - ARRANGER - COMPOSER
A music director, pianist/keyboardist, performer, music producer, tutor and versatile arranger, are most of the attributes that sum up Kevin Greenberg.
He is young, talented and a well-accomplished musician. He has a distinctive sound whose artistic touch is always in the service of the music. Kevin honed his skills and talents from an early age by obtaining his practical and theory diplomas in classical music through UNISA. He later went on to complete his Bachelor of Technikon in Music of jazz and contemporary music from Tshwane University of Technology (2009). Despite Kevin’s training in classical music, his preference leans towards light, contemporary and jazz music. Stylistically, Kevin easily straddles many different genres of music which are evident in his CD's namely Inspiring Instrumentals™ and Rolling on Instrumentals™ which Kevin arranged, performed, sequenced and produced – with over 100 tracks of music. Kevin’s stage name is Kevy G which was coined as a teenager.
Kevy G has made many debuts such as being the rehearsal pianist for the Broadway show RAGTIME in 2007, as well as being the 2nd keyboardist in RENT, a Broadway musical - hailed as an enormous success and drawing large audiences whilst studying at TUT. In December 2012, Kevy played 2nd keyboards at the Joburg Theatre as part of Janice Honeyman's pantomime ROBINSON CRUSOE AND THE CARIBBEAN PIRATES. In 2011, Kevy G wrote out the musical arrangements for 2 new shows showing at the Barnyard Theatre’s namely, ROUGH DIAMONDS & DIVAS and THE FINAL COUNTDOWN.
Apart from theatre shows, Kevin thrives as being part of well-known bands and accompanying original artists. He is the keyboardist for the sensational pop/hip hop act KoldproduK as well as Africa's most respected and SAMA nominated lyricists/rappers namely Zubz The Last Letta. He currently also accompanies SAMA nominated artist Jacques Terra’Blanche and has also had the privilege of accompanying other SAMA nominated singer-songwriter artists such as Xavier Saer, Melanie Lowe and André Schwartz.
Kevin is very driven and passionate when it comes to education. He has been tutoring music privately for 9 years, is currently still the choir director for King Edward VII School since 2010, and a part-time accompanist for the musical theatre and jazz departments at Wits University for 3 years. Kevin is in the process of recording his 3rd cover-original album titled Placidly Piano™.
